Sho Tay was Finemaster Ken Chan’s first recognition. An enclosure with the Arcadia water bill included a photo of Mayor Sho Tay along with Arcadia school principals and teachers. Asked how many enclosures he thought were mailed, Sho confessed to having “no idea.” For the publicity photo, Sho was fined $50.
Another photo resulted in Brian Hall’s recognition. Taken at Brian’s daughter’s wedding reception, Brian and his son were caught enjoying celebratory cigars. Even though Brian said he only had “a couple bucks” left after paying for the wedding, the club members demanded the fine be more. Brian volunteered to pay $100 in honor of such a wonderful day of family celebration.
Who is that Rotarian is a game hosted by John Murphy. If you guess the first question correctly, “Who is the Rotarian in the photo?,” you must agree to pay $50 to play the game. If you correctly answer both questions, you receive a $50 fine credit. The first contestant was Ernie Jensen; he correctly guessed the Rotarian in the photo was Dick Martinez. He also correctly identified the woman in the photo as Dick’s mother. With the correct answer to both questions, Ernie’s $50 fine credit offset his fine to zero, however …
If you would like the chance to hear Ernie Jensen play his accordion, make your way to a ranch outside of Solvang and join the ten-day ride. As “Monty Montana,” Ernie entertains the ride participants. Finemaster Ken and club members agreed that Ernie could NOT pay his fine by playing his accordion. He was fined $25 instead.
