Finemaster George first recognized those members who volunteered and worked with him for the Salute to Seniors Luncheon on May 12. No fine, just a big thank you from George!
The theme of the day was “Know Your Rotary.” First up was Swati Puri: In what year was Arcadia Rotary Club founded? (Clue: It was the same year Frank Perini graduated from high school.) Swati correctly guessed 1927 for a reduced fine of $4.
Aaron Rose was asked, “Who was the first President of Arcadia Rotary Club?” (Clue: He used to hang out with Dirk Hudson.) Aaron’s guess was incorrect and he was fined $47. The correct answer is Hudson Proctor.
Bob Novell’s question was in two parts. Arcadia Rotary Club has approximately 50 meetings per year. 1) For how many of those lunches is chicken served? Bob’s guess of 23 was incorrect; the correct answer is 38 according to George. 2) Within 50, how many chickens are eaten each year by Arcadia Rotarians? Bob wildly guessed 1,500; George’s correct answer of 658 was not within 50, so Bob was fined $30.
A three-parter awaited Sam Falzone. 1) Who was the President of Arcadia Rotary Club three years ago? (Clue: Sit up.) Sam didn’t guess the correct answer, which was Brad Miller. 2) Who is the incoming President of Arcadia Rotary Club? (Clue: Have you seen my glasses?) Sam correctly answered Mike Hoey. 3) How many O’s in Mike Hoey’s name? The correct answer of 1 was given and Sam escaped with a fine of only $20.
