With Brian Cogbill filling in for Finemaster Harbicht on his first week on the job, the fines flew fast and furiously:

  • Jim Helms was recognized for not wearing a suit.
  • A red ribbon found in the bar of Embassy Suites was first misidentified as from Ashley Andrews’ dress, but the rightful owner, Dick Martinez, was found and he was fined $30 for the ribbon, including delivery.
  • Brian then announced that the President is not exempt from fines this year and proceeded to recognize President Mimi $40 for the sky-diving photo and for charging the adventure to her Rotary budget.
  • Dave McMonigle was not recognized for his daughter’s recent wedding, which he maintained was “known to all,” but was fined $20 for climbing Mt. Everest with Matt Weaver as R&R after the wedding.
  • A photo of an RV park allegedly included John Fee oil painting during his camping vacation with his wife June.  This cost John $30.
  • Frank Griffith was recognized for $25 for turning down the opportunity to go on an “Old Guys” trip, complete with T-shirts.  Frank recommended his friend, Pat Barnes, take the trip instead, but Pat only earned a similar $25 fine for not passing the physical.
  • A shiny red Corvette was attributed to Tim Vickery’s recent shopping trip to Bowling Green, Kentucky, accompanying a fine of $25.
  • Tom Crosby and Dong Chang share a wedding anniversary.  Evidence was presented of their recent joint ballooning adventure with their wives.  A fine of $100 was reduced to $5 for their wisdom when it was ascertained that only their wives were aboard the ill-fated balloon when it crashed.
  • Sylvia Ramos was called on to fill in for Luther Tsinoglou in a recognition aimed at the Red-Badge Greeters.  Questioned as to Brian’s classification before he retired, she guessed attorney.  In kindness, retired dentist Brian spared her from a fine.
  • A photo of an advertising sign for “Bad Boys Bail Bonds” spotted in Helena, Montana, earned Past-President Eric a fine of $20 for his latest satellite office.
