Bob Harbicht took center stage and supplied us with some funds for the club and his usual humor!
Sylvia Raoms was up first, as a member of the Tournament of Roses – she was photographed with our float entry for the 2014 Rose Parade Float. Sylvia also went to Vegas but was sick the whole time. Bob felt that even though Sylvia isn’t a gambler somehow she must have saved enough money to pay the $50 fine.
Mike Driebe, President Methodist Hospital Foundation and San Marino Rotarian, was called on. Bob had uncovered a photo of Dan Ausman, with the hospital’s new 320 slice CT scanner. Unable to catch Dan at a meeting attempted to fine Mike for the photo – a quick assessment of procedure indicated that we may not be authorized to fine visitors. Not to be turned down, Bob hit Jay Harvill, also with the Foundation, for the $50.
Dave Freeman was spotted at Friday’s meeting with no tie! This may be the first time in 30 years of membership that Dave was sans tie. It turns out that Dave has retired, congratulations! Oh yeah, thanks for the $100!
Brian Cogbill was called on, not very forthcoming with information. We learned that he took a trip, not to El Monte. Brian, not wanting to get dinged too bad, had Bob drag out that he’d been to Africa. This was a ‘bucket list’ item for Brian. His trip to Tanzania was close to famous Mt. Kilimanjaro, but climbing the mountain wasn’t part of the plan, just visiting with the wild animals. Brian was assessed $75.
