Recognitions were handled by the “Dynamic Duo;” not Batman and Robin nor the Korean pop singers, but Bob Harbicht and Brian Cogbill. Starting things off, Brian accused President Mimi of accusing him of stealing her presidential gavel. He vehemently denied her accusation and fined her $50.
Bob called on Pat Dolphin, whom he had recently seen at a wedding reception. Pat’s business provided the chairs for the reception and Bob wondered if Pat was invited to every customer’s wedding. Although Pat was a friend of the family, he didn’t escape his fine of $50.
Frank Perini was asked by Brian whether he gave shaves at his shop. After Frank affirmed that he does, Brian fined him $20 for having a sideline business giving pre-surgery shaves at the hospital. (Maybe you had to be there … it all relates back to an Archie Bunker video that was shown at the start of the meeting …)
Next, Brian called on Roger Gewecke who was raised in Modesto, film location for the movie “American Graffiti.” Roger’s father was involved in local politics, according to Brian, and helped out George Lucas with some sticky permits. In gratitude, Roger was given an uncredited part in the next Lucas film. No, not R2D2, Roger was Yoda. In recognition for his Star Wars role, Roger was fined $100.
Bob tried to recognize Frank Griffith, but Frank got the upper hand quickly. Apparently, Bob didn’t show up for a visit to Camp Trask to assess potential new projects. Frank managed to get Bob to fine himself … $5! Then Bob asked Frank if he had rented a vacation home in Balboa. Unbeknownst to Frank, who rented the house through a broker, the house belonged to Keith Brown. Both Frank and Keith were fined $50.
Finally, Brian tried to fine Bob for asking him to fill in while Bob was “on vacation” and then showing up at the meeting. They were still arguing about exactly what the e-mail said and the resulting $10 fine as they went back to their table.
