David McMonigle introduced Laura Cazares the Rotary program for Friday August 15. Laura is a certified Dream Builder coach and encouraged the group to consider the many wonderful possibilities and opportunities for your life. Unfortunately many people say no to opportunities for various reasons; to old, to difficult, no skills, might fail…
Laura took us back to a low time in her life, December 22, 1986 where her home was full of negative issues and bad drama. She had “shut down” as a kid until at 20 she broke down and sought help so that she could do more than just survive. That small voice in her head was asking if there is more to life than what she was experiencing, she got help again, a coach that helped her “dance with fear” address her fears and take some risk. She said: “her life is different today, thank God.” Laura asked the group if any of us felt like we have opportunities that we could say yes to, but various fears keep us saying no. So much of our personal success depends on our personal view and vision and we can change that to be bigger and positive. Do we want to live a life by default or by design, hopefully design. If by design then we need to realize that our success is determined inside our head by using our imagination. Brian Cogbill left the meeting at this point, take note George.
Laura brought out a “energy stick” and tested it with Tim Vickery, he had a good amount of mojo going. Then Laura tested the energy stick with a group of Rotarians holding hands at the front table lead by Jim Helms & Ernie Aragon, which was interesting. Laura asked the group to imagine what we would love! Eric Barter noted that he would love to see the Ducks win a national championship, Laura gamely played along with Eric’s fantasy. Laura promised gifts, offered free coaching sessions for people that really want to grow. A drawing was offered to everyone that entered their name and Terry Earl won a brand new Energy Stick! In closing, Laura asked us to remember that the power within us is infinitely greater than outside of us. That left a number of Rotarians pondering the significance of that. Thank you Dave McMonigle and Laura Cazares.
