As a child growing up in New York City, Jim Cogan found himself constantly surrounded by family storytellers. Given early access to the skills of developing this timeless art, Jim acquired a rich and active vocabulary, a highly visual imagination, and a love of dialogue, sound, movement and imagery…that developed into a lifelong love of language that has enriched his world experience in countless ways.
Jim Cogan is carrying on a family tradition. He is a Storyteller. He weaves all kinds of tales to all kinds of audiences in all kinds of places. His animated telling of original stories, historical narratives, retold fables, and adaptations of classical myths, legends and lore captivate and inspire students and adults to celebrate their own stories and share their universal humanity. Jim has been featured at the National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee, performed at regional festivals across the West, presented at professional conferences and corporate gatherings, and has worked with more than 2 million school students helping them acquire the gift of gab and grace of confidence.
