Gov. Roger spoke briefly of the RI mandated subjects for District Governors visits which are:
1. Membership – he knows we have plans to bring more members in
2. Rotary Foundation – he knows we have plans to support the foundation.
3. District Conference – June 9 to 12 in La Jolla next year come celebrate
Gov. Roger spend the majority of his time on inspiring stories of his trip, along with Gene and 52 other Rotarians, to India for a mass Polio inoculation in 2008; and of his trip to Peru with Rotaplast, where he supported the plastic surgeons who performed cleft lip/palate surgeries. “Rotary changed their lives and mine,” he said. “Rotary can change your life.” RI’s motto could be “Service Enhances Self,” he suggested, listing opportunities for involvement coming up such as the inoculation team, Rotaplast, Friendship Exchange with District 2450 and the Corazon Super Build in Mexico.
“Look for desperate, searching, needy people right here in Acadia,” Gov. Roger said. “Look to lonely, burdened members and spouses of your own club. Do your part.” Rotary is, after all, “what you make it personally in your life,” Gov. Roger concluded.
Gov. Roger showed our Arcadia Rotary Club that he is one excellent governor this year.
