“Who wants to sing anyhow? This attitude is quite often reflected by a club after a half-hearted effort on the part of both the director and the members. Lets look at it in this light for a few moments.”
“Rotary was born in an era when everybody sang. Group singing was part of every gathering. It affords an opportunity to let off steam; it breaks down barriers and brings your neighbor a little closer to you; it elevates your thinking and puts you in harmony with things about you. The next time you are in a group where there is singing, just look around at some of the expressions. Some work hard at it, some glide along easy like, and some close their eyes in blissful joy. Everyone for the moment is in a world apart. Any thing that will give you temporary release from this rat race we live is worthwhile. It is my honest belief that any Rotary meeting is greatly enriched by spirited club singing.”
