1. Dick Martinez, International Director, announced that on August 28 Arcadia Rotary volunteers will travel to the Rancho Nazareth Orphanage in Tecate, Mexico. There are 42 orphan boys at this location. Additional volunteers are needed for construction and children’s event coordination. Contact Dick for further information.

2. John Wilson, Social Director, announced that Rotarians had a very nice time at last night’s (July 28) social event in Monrovia at Bella Sera, 422 S. Myrtle Ave., Monrovia. Apparently there was a wine give-away (with Gil Stromsoe a big winner).

3. John Wilson further announced that on August 20 the next social event will be a train trip to Del Mar – with a day at the races at the Del Mar track.

4. Gil Stromsoe announced that contributions to the Rotary International Foundation totaled $807,725. Over the last five years Paul Harris contributions totaled $119 247. For the past year (2015-2016, under the presidency of Dr. Michael Hoey) per capita contributions were $265. Arcadia Rotary major donors contributed over $10,000. Goals were met, resulting in a District grant to RYLA of $4,500.

5. Gil Stromsoe then went on to list major donors. Past major donors include John Parker, Jim Hauser, Hal Kattell, John Tyler, and Laura Freedman. Current major donors are Dong Chang, Frank Hall, Bob Novell, Mike Real, Gil Stromsoe, and Tim Vickery. Soon to become major donors are Yvonne Flint, Bob Harbicht, and John Murphy.

6. Gil Stromsoe then summarized that in the last two years ours has been a very Rotarian club in that all members have contributed some amount to the Rotary International Foundation. Currently 75 of our members have been, or will in the next three weeks become, Paul Harris fellows.
