1. Update on Brian Cogbill: Keith Brown reported that Brian has undergone back surgery and is at home recovering.
2. The Rise Against Hunger project that took place last Saturday at La Salle H.S. was a great success. Acting Pres. Mike Hoey thanked all who attended and helped in the packing of 15,000 meals.
3. Our wheelchair project for the needy in Tijuana is close to the goal of providing 20 chairs. Money has been donated for 15, and 5 more need to be purchased. The cost is $200 per chair.
4. We will be dark at the Embassy Suites, Friday, Nov. 9, 2018. We will, instead, be meeting at the Santa Anita Golf Course banquet room, upstairs. (405 So. Santa Anita Ave. – corner of Diamond Ave.) Be sure to attend as we will be inducting our second new member this year.
5. Veteran’s Day will be observed on Sunday 11/11/2018. Members should consider buying a United States flag from the club for $50.00 to fly on Veteran’s Day and other national holidays. Contact Mike Real for further details.
6. The Arcadia Rotary Club is planning a dinner and theater party on Saturday 11/17/2018 with dinner at 5:30 p.m and a play afterwards at 8:00 p.m. at the Glendale Centre Theater, 324 N. Orange Street, Glendale, CA. The cost for the evening is $65/person. The play will be “The Games Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays”. This should be a great social for the club. Tickets will be on sale from 10/12/2018 through 11/02/2018, and payment must be received by 11/02.
7. The Teen Leadership Conference will take place from Friday 11/30/2018 through Sunday 12/02/2018. Any questions or desire to help, contact Kathy Ellison.
8. The Moonlight Forest and Magical Lantern Art Festival will be presented at the Arboretum each Wednesday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. commencing 10/26/2018 through 01/06/2009. According to Rosie Mares, our club plans to attend the performance on Thursday, Nov. 29th. Please sign up if you plan to attend.
