1.  President Pat announced that club members can donate $200 for the club to purchase one (1) wheelchair for a needy person in Tijuana, Mexico.  The club hopes to donate 15 to 20 wheelchairs  in conjunction with the Tijuana Rotary Club as one of our International projects.
  2. Arcadia Rotary Club and Sierra Madre Rotary Club  are working jointly  with Rise Against Hunger, a non-profit organization, to package meals and ship them to feed needy families in Vietnam.
    There will be a work party on Saturday 10/29/2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. at La Salle High School, located at the corner of Michillinda and Sierra Madre Blvd., in Sierra Madre.  The goal is to package 20,000 meals, with our club’s goal to pack 11,000 meals.  We need a good turnout from our members to meet our goal.  if you can’t attend the work party you should consider donating  $165 as the cost for 500 meals or $250 as the cost for 750 meals.  Sign ups are being taken at the meeting for those who plan on attending, or you can sign up online.
  3. Veteran’s Day will be observed on Sunday 11/11/2018.  Members should consider buying a United States flag from the club for $50.00 to fly on Veteran’s Day and other national holidays.  Contact Mike Real for further details.
  4.   The Arcadia Rotary Club is planning a dinner and theater party on Saturday 11/17/2018 with dinner at the Panda Inn, 201 N. Maryland Avenue, Glendale, CA., at 5:30 p.m and a play afterwards at 8:00 p.m. at the Glendale Centre Theater, 324 N. Orange Street, Glendale, CA.  The cost for the evening is $65/person.  The play will be “The Games Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays”.  This should be a great social for the club.  Tickets will be on sale from 10/12/2018 through 11/02/2018, and payment must be received by 11/02.
  5. Member Chris Haddow’s band, the Route 66 Band, will play at the Route 66 Roadhouse Bar next Friday, 10/19/2018 at 9:00 p.m.  Plan on attending to support Chris’s band.
  6. Judge Bruce Mars passed fliers at the meeting with recommendations for Superior Court Judges to be elected in the November election.  If you have any questions, contact Bruce.
  7. Member Brent Forsee, Principal at Arcadia High School, presented the Students of the Month Awards as follows:  Andrew Hoagland – Academics, Jacob Medders – Athletics;, and Richard Cordero-Melo – Performing Arts.  Congratulations to each of them!
  8. The Teen Leadership Conference will take place from Friday 11/30/2018 through Sunday 12/02/2018.
  9. The Moonlight Forest and Magical Lantern Art Festival will be presented at the Arboretum each Wednesday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. commencing 10/26/2018 through 01/06/2009.
  10.  Today’s speaker Bobby Hundley of the San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre announced that they will present Mel Brook’s musican “Young Frankenstein” at the San Gabriel mission Playhouse, 320 S. Mission Drive, San Gabriel, CA, with two (2) performances only on Saturday 10/20/2018 at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday 10/21/2018 at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets start at $20.   He brought one of the stars who sang for us, and she was terrific.  Let’s get behind SGVMT.
