JIM RIDER’S BACK!!! Following a worrisome wait for a new heart, a successful surgery and only four weeks, the cheerful calculator was back, putting smiles on the entire club’s faces. Welcome back, Jim!
The club’s annual Monte Carlo Night will held on Saturday 06/04 at the Arcadia Community Center. Erich Rail is asking for donations of raffle items and raffle item baskets. Monte Carlo Night will be from 6:00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. and is sure to be a lot of fun!
The club’s installation Banquet for next year’s President, Rosie Mares will be held on Friday 06/24 at the Doubletree Hotel in Monrovia. The festivities will start at 6 p.m.
Just a reminder – – Dick Martinez has rescheduled our annual Rotary Amigos project. The new date will be 6/30. Please contact Dick if you can participate.
Bob Harbicht reminded us that the club’s Field of Honor project will be held from Saturday 05/21 to Sunday 05/29 at Arcadia County Park. 1,000 flags have been assembled at Pat Dolphin’s warehouse in Azusa. Bob needs 20 to 30 people to set up the flags on Fri. the 20th after our meeting. Remember to sell flags to all of your friends. John Wilson has emailed a form to the club members explaining the event and how you can purchase a flag. This information can easily be copied and pasted into your own email and distributed to your friends.
Teachers’ Mini Grants: Ken Chan introduced the “BadA&@ Superintendent,” David Vannasdall, who pointed out that we have given 407 Mini Grants, totalling $99 thousand, $2,908 this year. Two of our outstanding teachers spoke briefly, thanking Arcadia Rotary: A, Renee Costarella, teaches 4-5th grade, and enjoys explaining coding and working with LED lights with the students. B. Amy Dauble is proud of her Second Stop for Early Learning and teaches Kindergarten through 3d Grade. She enjoys teaching the kids to listen, learn and how to solve problems and to remain calm when angry.
