1. The Memorial Service for Frank Hall will be held on Saturday, 07/31/2021 at Mater Dolorsa, 700 N. Sunnyside Avenue, Sierra Madre, CA. with Mass at 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception. Everyone is invited. Please RSVP to Patricia Hall at (626) 355-7795.
  2. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Dan Place on Saturday 08/28/2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd located at the corner of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue, Arcadia, CA.
  3. Mike Real announced that he needs members to sign up to help set up of the 1,000 flags for the Field of Honor at Arcadia County Park located at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita on Saturday 08/28/2021 from 8:00 a.m. until it is completed.. The opening ceremony will be held that morning. Bob Harbicht is in charge of the opening ceremony. Mike also announced that there will be a sign up for members to work shifts at the Field of Honor during the week of the event. All members are encouraged to participate in the Field of Honor, which is the club’s big fund raiser for the year. He announced that Forest Lawn is a new sponsor of the Field of Honor.
  4. Altadena Rotary Club is hosting another Concert in the Park to be held on Saturday 07/31/2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Farnsworth Park in Altadena. Everyone is invited and there is no charge. President Ashley said that she attended one of their Concerts in the Park and that it was very enjoyable and is well worth attending.
  5. Dick Martinez announced that he will be questioning members about Rotary at the club meeting starting next week at the meeting on 08/06/2021. Dick will post the question to be asked in the High Gear published immediately preceding that meeting. Watch out if you can’t answer the question as you will be recognized with a fine; so you better read the High Gear each week to find out what the question is and then find the answer in the Rotary Blue Book prior to the next meeting. The question to be asked at the meeting on 08/06/2021 is as follows: IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU “WHAT IS ROTARY” OR “WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF ROTARY”, HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER?
  6. Ernie Jensen announced that John Fee is at Arcadia Methodist Hospital and that he is doing very well considering that he is 98-1/2 years old.
