Mike Real announced that the setup of the flags for the Field of Honor will be this Saturday 08/28/2021. You should arrive at Arcadia County Park at the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.. Bring family and friends to help as the more volunteers we have the faster the set up will be completed. Mike also announced that to date approximately $30,000 has been donated for the Field of Honor. We still need all members to sell flags. This is the club’s biggest fundraiser for the year.
Bob Harbicht announced that the opening ceremony for the Field of Honor will be on Sunday, 08/29/2021. To date about 80 persons have signed up to carry flags in the parade, and if anyone else wants to participate in the parade, including family and friends, please advise Bob ASAP so that he can arrange to have additional flags available at the starting points of the parade. Participants who have signed up should have already received an email from Bob advising them of their respective starting points. Participants are to arrive at their assigned starting point at 12:00 noon as flags will be delivered to the participants at their starting point between 12:00 and 12:15 p.m. The parade will culminate at Arcadia County Park.
Yvonne Flint needs volunteers to work at the Field of Honor from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the weekends and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each weekday during the Field of Honor. Contact Yvonne for further information.
David Muse needs volunteers to assist with a food handout event to be held on Friday, 09/17/2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Drive, Arcadia, CA. He also needs volunteers to assemble the goodie bags on Wednesday, 09/15/2021 (the time for assembling will be determined on when its is convenient for the volunteers.) The memorial service for Dan Place will be on Saturday 08/28/2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd which is located at the corner of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue. Attendees are asked to wear Hawaiian attire as per Dan’s wishes.
Kathy Ellison announced that Imy Dulake is very ill at Arcadia Methodist Hospital with a kidney infection and she needs all of our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
The club will be dark next Friday 09/03/2021 for the Labor Day weekend.
