1. Denny Gearhardt passed away on Easter Sunday. There is no information on funeral services.
2. The memorial service for Ernie Jensen’s mother is scheduled for 05/10/2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd.
3. For the past 14 years Esylfie Taylor has helped set up a golf tournament to raise money for children in need of financial assistance to go to the Future Stars Basketball Camp, which will be held this year from 08/04/2014 to 08/08/2014. The 2914 golf tournament will be held on 05/15/2014 at Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga.. Contact Esylfie Taylor for more details.
4. The 2014 District 5300 Conference will be held from 05/15/2014 to 05/18/2014 at the Hilton Palm Springs Resort in Palm Springs, CA.. The theme is Hawaiian. There is no fee to register and anyone can attend for the day at no charge. The charge is for meals and room. Early sign ups for meals and room reservations have been extgended from 04/24/2014 to 05/01/2014 when the rates will increase. You can register on line at www.District5300.org, and you can call (760) 320-6868 for room reservations (make sure you mention the Rotary Conference to get the special room rate). Mike Hoey and Andie Bundesman are in charge of the hospitality suite. Make sure to wear Hawaiian attire.

6. President Mimi congratulated David Vannasdall for University of Kentucky’s loss at March Madness by presenting him with a bottle of Kentucky whiskey. It was also to congratulate him for being selected as Arcadia’s new Superintendent of Schools.
7. Matt Weaver and John Wilson announced that the Boys & Girls Club is holding its annual Derby Day Saturday on 05/03/214, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Baldwin Terrace at Santa Anita Race Track. Tickets are $150/person but the price has been lowered to $100 for Arcadia Rotarians. Enjoy cocktails, Hors d’Oeuvres, music, silent auction, live auction, live racing and betting throughout the day, and a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby. 8. Members of the Tijuana Rotary Club presented Dick Martinez with a Paul Harris Fellow in honor of Dick’s 39 years of working with their club in Rotary Amigos where both clubs work together to help Tinjuana orphanages. Congratulations Dick!
9. The club presented Richard Schulhof (CEO of the Arboretum) with a check to purchase water conservation signs with the Rotary seal on them to be placed in the Arboretum. This was in lieu of the club planting a tree at the Arboretum on Arbor Day as the club has done in the past.
10. Jack McRae introduced his 15 year old son whose Eagle Scout project was refurbishing the Staircase Garden at the Arboretum. Arcadia Rotary funded the project. Congratulations for a job well done.
