This week’s program was the official photographer for the Dodgers, Jon SooHoo! Dave Freeman, Esq. gave a comprehensive introduction, explaining that Jon SooHoo was a fourth generation in the Los Angeles area. Jon SooHoo then took the podium and warned us all that having his picture taken and public speaking were not his strengths. He then played a magnificent slide show set to beautiful music that highlighted some of his greatest photographs. These included Clayton Kershaw’s no hitter in 2014 and Vince Scully’s last game.
Jon SooHoo started his photography career as a USC lab tech and was then elevated to the position of L.A. Trojan photo editor. He joined the Dodgers in 1985 and become their official photographer in 1995.
When asked about the role of social media on his photography career he explained that it has made things faster. He can no longer wait until the next day in the social media world. Now, he needs to edit and post immediately. Further, the players he photographs want his pictures even faster for their own social media pages.
Jon shared with us that Football is the most fun to photograph, especially at the Coliseum. He then kindly answered some questions about players and coaches and left us all with some indelible and beautiful images to contemplate.
