Finemaster Ken Chan started off recognitions with Happy Moments, volunteer fines of $25 for sharing your good news:

  • Ray Bushnell shared that he was recognized as a “Person of Action” at the dinner event held in honor of Rotary District 5300’s District Governor. Congratulations, Ray, and job well done!
  • Jim Hanrahan shared that he and Borinka celebrated their 57th (!) wedding anniversary on July 22. Congratulations to you both, Jim!

Facebook was the Finemaster’s source for Tony Parrille’s fine with pictures of Tony’s family with Mickey Mouse.  The Parrille family went to Disneyland and had their photo taken with the whole family.  When asked how many characters they took photos with, Tony gave up and paid his fine of $50 plus $5 in celebration of Ashley Smith’s favorite number 55.

Gina Post-Franco has a new Tesla, although she might have to hitch a ride with the Finemaster if Elon Musk tanks the company.  Her fears did nothing to help her avoid her fine of $50, also plus $5 for Ashley.

When John Murphy celebrates his birthday, he is planning to have a BBQ.  However, he did not want to invite all his Rotarian friends to his BBQ.  When offered a chance to select his own fine amount to celebrate, he tried $10.  Finemaster Ken declined John’s offer and increased the fine to $25.

Mike Hoey’s brother, Eric, is also a Rotarian and was visiting our club, an occasion to celebrate the greatest brother in the world at the greatest Rotary club in the world.  Eric was asked to share some of Mike’s secrets that only family would know, but he remained a loyal brother.  The only dirt he shared was the fact that Mike rode a “mean skateboard with steel wheels.”  We had to be content with that and Mike was fined $25.

Ashley Smith and her family are moving to Missouri and this was her last meeting with our club.  Her boss, Brian Hall, offered to pay her fine for her, so Ashley was asked whether she had some “dirt” to share about Brian.  Again, loyalty won the day.  Ashley’s family was entertained for a lovely dinner at Brian’s home and for not inviting Finemaster Ken, Brian was fined $25 plus $30 for Ashley.

Who is the only current Arcadia City Council member to speak at the dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial?  Who had his photo taken with Teri Muse?  AND who also drives a Tesla, according to Gina?  Mayor Sho Tay!  Sho’s fine was calculated at $55 times three questions, $165.
