Finemaster Dave McMonigle, ably assisted by Assistant Finemaster Geoff Tookey, got right to it with “Crime and Punishment.” It seems that Mahlon “The Butcher” Chinn has violated Code Section 597 by maliciously and intentionally killing animals. Although Dirk Hudson wasn’t familiar with the section, he was deemed fully competent to prosecute Mahlon for his crimes. Eric Barter noted that the typical bail for this crime would be $50K, but using the Rider 10% rule, thought it should be set at $50. In the course of the interrogation, Mahlon threw his accomplice, Mike “Pretty Boy” Hoey, under the proverbial bus by telling a tall tale, literally a fish story, about three trout that were supposedly caught at Mahlon’s illicit fishing lodge. Since all three were conveniently missing, no evidence existed for Mahlon’s alibi and he was fined $50. Still being pursued by justice, Mike was unavailable for comment, which didn’t prevent Dave and Geoff from also fining him a matching $50.
