President Rosie introduced the program by updating members that we will have an offsite meeting on 2/3/17 at Jordan Hall, Church of the Good Shepherd. She went on to say that membership recruitment and retention are clearly top priorities. Cost factor of membership seems to be a deal breaker for some potential new members and the board is researching ways to solve this dilemma.

We had a surprise guest that wanted to address the club with a donation from her private photography studio. Alberta Walker has been taking photos for the past thirty years in various communities and presented us with a “Field of Honor” picture she took from last year.

Bob Harbicht then announced the “Field of Honor” kick off with great news. He has contacted the sponsors from last year and many have already confirmed their support again for this year. He is looking for help and asking for “sign-ups” early. The project will be installed at our same County Park location on May 22, 2017 and displayed through Memorial Day. Flags are now available to purchase so don’t hesitate.

Director of Community Service, Bruno Esquivel was welcomed to the podium and gave updates on his avenue of service. He mentioned our involvement with the Foothill Unity Center where we had donated a large number of pies for the needy during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Director of Membership, Francine Chiu then presented her ideas to recruit new members to our club. She mentioned a Rotary brochure on each table along with a small Rotary business card. She asked the members for more ideas as well.

Did you know that our Rotary Interact Club at Arcadia High School has a membership of one hundred sixty members? Wow, that’s fantastic! Our club recently financed a new P.A. (Public Address) system to be used at their club meetings because many could not hear presentations or project announcements.Teri Muse, Director of New Generations hit a home run with this group.
