In his announcement encouraging club Rotarians to bring in new members, Aaron Rose provided the irresistible basis for his fine.  Referring to the hot dogs and beans that will be served to the “losers” – the “winners” will be served steak – Aaron said he wants new members so there will be less beans served that day … it will cut down on the “hot air” in the room.  When challenged by Finemaster Jim Rider, his quick reply was “Case in point.”  Jim’s quick response?  A fine of $17.50.

Finemaster Jim then attempted to fine President Eric Barter for not delivering speakers’ gifts to two members – Dong Chang and Aaron Rose – who spoke about Chinese New Year.  Wisely, both Dong and Aaron weren’t talking, so Jim had no choice but to ignore the choice opportunity for recognition.

Known for his love of snow skiing, Brian Cogbill enjoyed the fresh snow in Big Bear a few weeks ago.  His timing was unfortunate though, as it was the day police cornered fugitive Christopher Dorner in the same area.  Brian spent two hours waiting in his car, in an area with no radio reception, during the excitement.  As Brian said, Dorner was a “hot topic.”  He was fined $42.50 for his trouble.

The next two people recognized received unprecedented credits:  Ashley Andrews received a credit of $27.50 for hosting a great Valentine’s party and Yvonne Flint received a credit of $22 for celebrating her birthday that day.
