Pres. Eric gave us an update on Nikki Adams. She is out of the hospital and feeling much better, and should be back at Rotary in the near future.
Eric encouraged us to bring our old Rotarian magazines to the meetings. They will be distributed and displayed in business and professional offices to help promote Rotary.
Mary Salcedo, our membership chair, reported on our club’s efforts at the Taste of Arcadia. She said the booth was a big success and many people expressed an interest in learning about our club. Mary also said plans are being made for another Beans and Steak Luncheon to honor those who have brought prospective new members to the meetings.
On October 14th the Arcadia Rotary Partners will have their Annual Octoberfest at the home of Mike and Paula Real, 1401 Oak Meadow Road, Arcadia. The event will be from 3 to 6 PM. Beer, brats and appetizers will be served.
Andy Bundesmann gave us the details on Monday Night Football. It will be at Paul and Sandra Kalemkiarian’s home on Oct. 22nd at 5:30. The address is 1328 Rodeo Road, Arcadia. The $20 charge will cover gourmet pizza and drinks. Please sign up for this popular event at the next meeting.
Andy also brought to our attention the next home football game for Arcadia. It will be on Oct. 12th and the high school is encouraging our members to come to the game. For more details, please contact Andy.
Aaron Rose reported on the trip he made to Tijuana with Tom Crosby and Dick Martinez. After crossing the border they were met by two members of the Tijuana Rotary Club who took them to a school site and the orphanage where we worked last year. One project considered is to put up another awning at the orphanage. Mark your calendars for the last weekend in January when the project will take place.
The JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation) Walkathon will be held on Nov. 11th at Dodger Stadium. Team Rotary needs walkers and fundraisers to participate. Please contact Mike Ojeda for more details.
Pres. Barter announced the Rotarians of the Month for September. They were two of our hardest working members, Jack Lamb, our secretary, and Roger Grant, our treasurer.
