Red Badger, Jeff Johnson, is
the owner of Markham/Boling Collision Center, located at 1133 E. Walnut Street,
Pasadena. Jeff currently lives in Sierra
Madre with his 21 year old daughter and is a single father.
Jeff grew up in the West San Fernando Valley, Chatsworth to
be precise. He started repairing and
fixing cars at the age of 15. He learned
how to disassemble vehicles and weld parts back onto them. He learned the intricacies of the auto electrical
systems and applied his learning and skills to his first business, which he
started at the age of 19. He started
detailing cars at his body shop/car wash.
As he evolved in the auto repair business, he started appraising cars
for insurance companies and this became his full time occupation, where he oversaw
50 to 60 employees.
-
After changing that affiliation, he went back
into his first love auto repair, and worked for Marko’s Auto Body. He spent 12 years there changing it into the
second largest small body shop in Los Angeles.
He left that company and found a great opportunity in Pasadena at
Markham/Boling. This was a family owned
and operated collision repair and auto detailing service business. Jeff realized this was a great business
opportunity and bought the business. He
cleaned up the premises and redid the office.
He has one problem though: he
needed a hydraulic lift if auto repair was going to take place. So, he had to take out concrete paving and
bring in a lift. Needless to say, the
business is a success under his ownership.
He currently repairs between 50 and 60 cars monthly. Some of the expert work he performs is on
fire trucks. His regular clients include
the City of Pasadena, State Farm Insurance and Diamond Honda. The type of work performed includes: both domestic
and foreign vehicles, body and frame reconstruction, frame straightening and
fabrication, laser frame alignment, fiberglass repair, complete vehicle reconstruction, among other
specialties. He talked about how cars
are safer today than years ago. Cars
have changed. There are newer metals, better weight distribution and newer
internal systems, which make them safer for the motoring public.
