Arcadia Rotary’s Christmas luncheon began on Friday, December 17, 2010 with a rousing rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Each of the tables in the room had a number which corresponded to a part of the song. As the song was song each table would rise and sing their portion of the song. Kudos to those who rose and sang Five Maids a Milking.
We had a visiting Rotarian from Walnut Creek, who presented us with a Walnut Creek Rotary flag.
Our wonderful waiters and waitress were recognized and given gifts for their table service during the year.
The program this year was vocalist and guitar player extraordinaire, Rick Dobbs. He led us in singing the following songs:
“Jingle Bells”, “Winter Wonderland”, White Chistmas, Feliz Navidad, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Deck the Halls, Silent night, Let it snow, Jingle bell rock, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Away In A Manger, Joy to the World, We three Kings, Over the River and Through the Woods, Blue Christmas, Angels We Have Heard on High, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, I’m Dreaming of a Warm Christmas, (Rick’s version of a popular song and popular with this group: Walking Round in Women’s Underwear, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, and the Sleigh Ride Song.
While singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Santa Claus appeared and waltzed around the room. All of the kids then went to Santa’s chair where he presented them with special gifts.
The helpers who put together the program were saluted.
Rob Granger told us about the needy families who were helped by Rotarians this year: A single mom with cancer and a homeless family without a bread winner. Thank you Rotarians for helping these families!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
