Located in Mahachai, Samutsakorn, Thailand, 5 miles outside of Mahachai downtown and about 52 miles away from Bangkok lies a piece of property owned by the father of our Rotarian, Jane Lin. Jane’s father recently donated the property, with a current value of $US300,000 to allow the connection of 2 freeways- the Param II International Freeway  and Ekachai Freeway benefiting the Thai people and businesses.

The property is wide enough to allow six lanes that could accommodate vehicles the size of U.S. sixteen wheel trucks.

Jane said “I am very proud of what my father did.”

But unfortunately, one private family used the land for nearly 15 years.  Last week, Jane met with a Thai Senator, and the head of Thai Consulate in L.A. Senator Vichan Sirichaiekawat promised to open the road for public use.

Jane has asked the road to be named in honor of her father KAMOL WATTANACHAI ROAD.” Jane’s name in Thai is Jiraporn Wattanchai.

The Thai Consulate General Apipan also helped by sending a complaint to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Thailand. He was a schoolmate of Jane’s.  She intends to inform him about Matt Weaver’s Thai water project.
