Carl Bergquist-Devoe, who has shared his musical talents as our club’s pianist, made the mistake of noting in his farewell remarks that he felt like a member of Arcadia Rotary, with one exception: he had never been fined.  Finemaster Dave McMonigle couldn’t let Carl’s Rotary experience be incomplete in any way, so he dutifully levied Carl’s first recognition of $25 on his last day.  Now you’re one of us, Carl!

TV channel KCAL 9 was kind enough to share their video footage of our own Frank Griffith chatting with the media about the Station Fire and its proximity to his home.  Decked out in full fire-fighting regalia, Frank’s interview included a drinking game keyed on the word “fire.”  Unfortunately for the interviewer (but fortunately for Frank), “fire” was used in every sentence Frank uttered and he soon literally fell from view.  Upon our viewing of the incriminating video, Frank was promptly fined $50.

Just as the club was ready to adjourn, President Imy had one last recognition, this time for Rich Hutton.  Apparently footage of Rich on the job in a courtroom was used in a 60 Minutes report on a new DUI prosecution program.  The advertising value of the national exposure was determined to be $100, payable to Arcadia Rotary.
