We were honored to host District Governor Betsy McDonough Barry, who provided us with an excellent talk. Betsy joined the Upland Rotary Club seventeen years ago and served as president, and in practically every other role. She lives in Yorba Linda and works as an attorney.
Betsy’s primary goal is to increase public awareness of what Rotary is and all that we contribute. For example, our district collectively contributes $2 million in donations and hours of service. Also of note is the Valentine’s Day Food Drive that involved over 100 clubs to serve needy communities.
Increasing Rotary membership is another priority, with the slogan, “Grow Rotary, Know Rotary.” Betsy believes that showcasing the depth and breadth of our community service is a great way to gain members. Recruiting folks who would answer affirmatively to the 4-Way Test will locate strong candidates for membership, and Betsy would add a 5th question: Will it serve to change lives?”
We thank our District Governor for her visit and inspiring presentation.
