There were three items on today’s agenda: Teacher of the Year, Students of the Month and Craft Talk.
This month’s teacher of the year was introduced by principal Kimberly Lawson from Hugo Reid. She introduced the teacher of the year from Hugo Reid Elementary School as third grade teacher, Roxanne Myers. Roxanne’s students love her class, they work hard and have fun. She is all about students and it shows in their work ethic. She helps other teachers with any problems they are having in their classrooms. Roxanne was accompanied to the Rotary luncheon by her husband, Gary.
This month’s student of the month in performing arts is Elise Fong. She is the Drum Major on this year’s Apache Marching Band and is looking forward to leading the band down Colorado Blvd. on January 1, at the Rose Parade. In addition to performing with the marching band, Elise is also in Orchestra. She would like to attend UCLA after graduation and as a career, become a pediatrician. Her parents accompanied her today.
The Athlete of the Month is Carson Lac. He is on the Swim team, He would like to attend the University of Calif. at San Diego. He hopes to study business in college. His father attended with him today.
The Scholar of the month is Keshwanth Babu Puligulla. He is interested in attending UCLA and majoring in Engineering. His interest is becoming an environmental engineer. Both parents were with him today.
Our newest member of Rotary gave his craft talk, he is Miles Yoshisato. Miles has been married for fourteen years. He and his wife have several pets including a chicken and cats.
Miles comes to Arcadia Rotary from the San Gabriel Rotary Club. He was president for two terms 2012 and 2015. He has been involved in the District in many capacities, including the Rotary Speech Contest. As a youth, he was an Eagle Scout. He attended Edison High School, then Cal State Fullerton for his BA and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. His occupation is Sales Marketing for the last 30 years. He includes in his hobbies, watching the Stock Market, following the races at Santa Anita, Golf and fishing. Welcome Miles!
